About us
VFW Post 1000, initially known as the Frank Fraas VFW Post 1000 of Fairmount, Missouri, was organized in 1931 and received its charter on April 25, 1932. It was later renamed Fraas-Fain Post #1000, honoring two World War casualties: Frank Fraas and Truman Fain. The Post moved and was built in its current location in Independence, Missouri, in 1954. It's known for its strong community ties and active involvement, including the establishment of a Ladies Auxiliary in 1933. Post 1000 continues to be an active presence in the community, involved in various initiatives and events. They have also seen an influx of younger veterans who have brought new energy and ideas to the organization. We strive to expand its reach and impact within the community; offer a wider range of programs and services to meet the diverse needs of veterans of all generations; strengthen partnerships with other veteran organizations and community groups; and leverage technology and digital platforms to improve outreach and engagement.
